Tips for photographing your home yourself

Basic tips:

Always photograph in daylight.
Use -if possible- an SLR camera.
Point the external flash upward to avoid overexposure.
Do not shoot against the light.
Preferably take landscape photos. Preferably take photos only in landscape orientation. The photo of the front of the house should be a landscape one.
Make sure you have sufficient resolution and sharp photos. If you do not have a tripod, it helps to press your elbows firmly against your chest while photographing.
Wait one second after taking the picture, as most digital cameras work with a delay.

Tips for indoor photography:

Store unnecessary furniture somewhere temporarily, this will make the room appear larger.
Make sure tables, dressers, countertops and window sills are empty.
Raise curtains and blinds for more light.
Do not photograph with artificial light.
Make sure the windows are clean.

Tips for photographing outdoor space:

Make sure the driveway is swept.
Make sure the grass is cut.
Make sure the hedge is neatly trimmed and remove weeds.
Make sure the windows and window frames are clean.
Don’t park your car in the driveway or in front of the house.
