Showing buyers around yourself: Checklist for your home viewings

No one knows your home better than you. And can talk about it as enthusiastically as you do. That is why you are perfectly capable of showing potential buyers around yourself. Doing viewings yourself is not only fun, it also helps you sell your home even faster! It is nice for viewers to receive information about the house from the seller.
Moreover, you are not bound to office hours for a viewing and you can decide yourself when the viewing takes place and how long it takes.

Tips for your home viewing;
a handy checklist:

  • Make sure the floors are empty and clean and that there is no clutter in the corners of the room.
  • Wash your windows inside and out, this gives the house a spacious and clean look.
  • Don’t hang too many coats on the coat rack and don’t put shoes there.
  • Make sure the temperature inside is comfortable.
  • Clean up the garden and driveway.
  • Clean up the kitchen and put any dishes in the dishwasher.
  • Give the toilet and bathroom a good cleaning.
  • Put animal things out of sight.
  • Make sure that the house smells nice.
  • Pay attention to lighting and let in as much light as possible during the day.
  • Do not turn on a television.
  • Keep family life to a minimum: the fewer people at home, the better.
  • Make yourself ‘invisible’.
  • Do not do negotiations yourself, leave this to the NVM broker.

At a viewing, make sure your house is clean and tidy

It is important to make sure your home looks tidy and clean during viewings. By creating a pleasant living environment, people immediately feel at ease upon entering. Do you have pets? Keep in mind that not everyone will be charmed by them. If you take the above tips to heart, you will ensure a good (first) impression during the viewing of your house.
